The bottom lot definitely look better, with the straighter hair and without the underline of the eyes. Thanks, this helps me to see which looks would go better with our female protagonist. Good work Teegs!
YEAH! Lets change them all into zombies! But for the eye we might have the bottom line drawn in too. With the colour test it looked better if we did have the white in the eye. I like the waist belt being quite high up too. Though perhaps the costume can look a little more oriental. Maybe just little hints to give it away. :D
Is it not possible to just colour in some white for the eye without drawing the bottom line in? Or is that too much for toonboom to handle? I guess it would change sizes and stuff...
I am trying costume things now, I think if the neck was higher it would look more oriental... Hmmm....
olour it without anylines on toonboom the size could keep changing in each frame causing it to flicker :( We could also experiment further with the hairdo methinks. I saw some hair designs in the blue Wendling book which looked quite suitable, so its still to be finalized. Remember the women from the Asience advert and the Le Papillon short. They could be good references.
Just trying to be careful not to get cross cultures xD don't want to start drawing Japanese things! I think with the bottom line for the eyes especially we'd have to be careful because it might and up looking a bit anime? Just a thought =]
I guess we'll have to be careful. We'll have to find the right balance, Mulan proved its possible to get that balance. I think a key part is the way its animated too. Where anime uses limited movements, western animation is more exaggerated. Maybe we could use limited animation. Nay! No animation at all! Hehe, just kidding :P We'll use the western movements.
I also think it would look better with just the top line, but I don't think it needs to have any whites coloured, maybe we could have two versions, like when we o close ups of her face, we could add white or even bottom line or something. But for full body shots I think the top line works well and it's also stylized in many Chinese paintings.
A student film from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth's Animation Production course. This blog documents our journey and process as well as helping us to keep communication in the team. So no one is left in the dark!

I prefer it with only the top line and no whites as well, better style.
